In Afghanistan, two Taliban militants were killed and another was arrested when they tried to attack the venue of three day peace consultative Jirga which began in capital Kabul today. <br/><br/>The multi-pronged attack began within minutes of President Hamid Karzai beginning his opening address to some 1,600 delegates who have gathered for the conference.<br/><br/>Militants fired three rockets near the venue of Jirga and engaged security forces in hours of gun fighting. Taliban, which had earlier threatened to kill anyone who took part, claimed responsibility for the attack. <br/><br/>Chief of criminal investigation for Kabul police Abdul Gaffar Saidzada said three police were wounded in the fighting. <br/><br/>President Karzai in his speech said it was the Taliban's insurgency that was keeping the international occupiers they resent in the country. He called upon militant groups to make peace with him and there will be no need for foreigners in the country. <br/><br/>The aim of Jirga is to identify mechanisms for negotiation, identify categories of opposition with whom to negotiate, mechanism on how to approach them, identify people who are not negotiable and what the government should do with them.
