Militants ambushed trucks, 1 dead 10 injured

In Assam, one truck driver was dead and 10 were wounded when suspected Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) militants ambushed on six tea-carrying trucks at Panbari under Bokakhat police station on the National Highway in Golaghat district early this morning. Four seriously injured have been admitted to Golaghat Civil Hospital. The deceased truck driver has been identified as Nanda Mahato. Police said the ultras hiding in jungles waylaid the trucks and started firing indiscriminately from automatic weapons on the trucks at around 4.30 this morning. The trucks were on their way to Guwahati from Namrup in Upper Assam. The police escort party of the trucks retaliated. The militants however managed to flee to nearby dense forests under cover of darkness.Meanwhile, Army, police and civil administration have arrived on the spot. A massive manhunt is on to apprehend the culprits. According to reports, 10 Karbi youths suspected to be involved in the attack, have been arrested.In another incident, police arrested two activists of KPCC, a Manipuri outfit, in Guwahati city this morning during search operation.
