<br/>Ahead of Republic Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have foiled major attempts of terrorists to disturb the Republic Day celebrations in the State.<br/><br/>Acting on specific informations, they conducted raids at Nowshera in Rajouri district and Mendhar in Poonch district and recovered huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives.<br/><br/>From Nowshera, Security Forces recovered 3 Pak made 7.63 mm pistols, 3 Pistol Magazines, 5 AK magazines, 286 AK rounds, 2 HE –84 Grenade, 5 Kgs explosive, 12 Electronic Detonators and Cordex Wire 15 metres.<br/><br/>They also recovered two RPG rockets, one RPG booster, 30 Chinese grenades, One Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), two AK magazines, 10 meter wire, three chargers and one wireless antenna from Gursai forests in Mendhar sector.<br/><br/>Appreciating the Police parties, the Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda said, the recoveries were the result of the extraordinary vigil mounted by the State Police.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports, the Director General of Police said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the security forces have stepped up the vigil across the State to thwart designs of militants and anti- national elements.<br/><br/>He said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police will ensure that Republic Day celebrations are conducted smoothly and peacefully across the State, adding that nobody will be allowed to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the State.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, a senior BSF officer said that BSF was maintaining a very high alert a along the International Border saying that BSF is ready to thwart any infiltration attempt by the militants from across the border.<br/>
