In Jammu & Kashmir, a militant was killed in a brief fight with security forces today afternoon in Pulwama district, which is around 30 kms in south of Srinagar headquarters. The slain militant has been identified as Jehangir Ahmad Ganai, a resident of Quil Pulwama area. He was killed in a brief fight with Special Operations Group (SOG) of State Police at Kawni village in Awantipora area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. <br/><br/>Reports said SOG personnel on a tip off laid a cordon around several houses in Kawni area of Awantipora in Pulwama district when militants fired grenades on them. 3 militants were believed to be in the cordoned area, however, 2 militants managed to escape from the spot. Reinforcements were rushed to the spot and a search operation launched to nab the militants who escaped.
