A major tragedy has been averted by J&K Police and Army by busting a militant hideout while recovering huge cache of arms and ammunition in Chhechha forests of Kishtwar District in Jammu &
Kashmir.
A Defence spokesperson told AIR that 17 Rashtriya Rifles and J&K Police yesterday jointly launched a search operation following a tip off
about the presence of the cache of arms and ammunition in the area.
The cache recovered by the security forces included an AK-47 rifle,
a 12 bore Rifle, four Chinese hand grenades, seven UBGL Grenades,
an RPG Rocket, a Magazine of AK -47 Rifle, 148 rounds of AK-47
rifle,7.62 mm Chinese pistol, 3 Chinese pistol magazines, an 8 kg
Chinese hand grenade, a wireless set, binoculars, 15 rounds of.
303 rifle besides a US-made combat jacket and four letter pads of
the militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba.
