Miami Masters: Murray, Djoko enter QFs, Sharapova vs Serena in semis

Defending champion Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic have advanced to the quarter-finals in the ATP event of the Miami Masters tennis tournament. Wimbledon winner Murray dispatched French 11th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 6-1, while second seed Djokovic defeated Tommy Robredo 6-3, 7-5. Murray and Djokovic will meet in the last eight stage. It will be the first time the two will clash since last year's Wimbledon final.Britain's sixth-seeded Murray trails the Serb 8-11 in their all-time rivalry. In another match, Swiss fifth seed Roger Federer ousted French ninth seed Richard Gasquet 6-1, 6-2 in 49 minutes. The Swiss star next faces Japan's Kei Nishikori in the quarter-final. Nishikori reached the third Masters-level quarter-final of his career with an upset of Spanish fourth seed David Ferrer in three sets 7-6, 2-6, 7-6. Also advancing with a shock win was Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov, who ousted Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Dolgopolov will meet either Czech Tomas Berdych or John Isner in the quarter-finals.Maria Sharapova will clash with Serena Williams in the semi-final of the WTA event of the Miami Masters Tennis tournament tomorrow. It will be a rematch of their 2013 final in the competition. Both the players advanced to the last four stage in formidable style on Tuesday.While Sharapova defeated Petra Kvitova 7-5, 6-1. top seed Williams pounded German fifth seed Angelique Kerber 6-2, 6-2.Sharapova has not beaten the world number one American since 2004 and has lost 14 consecutive matches in the rivalry. Williams holds six Miami titles while fourth seed Sharapova is a five-time Miami finalist.
