In Arunachal Pradesh, State government squarely blamed the Pawan Hans Helicopter Services Limited (PHHSL) for tragic crash of the MI-172 chopper at Tawang on last Tuesday where 17 people including three crew members died and six other seriously injured. Alleging sheer negligence by the Pawan Hans authority, the state government in a letter to union minister of Civil Aviation sought an inquiry on maintenance and mandatory inspections as per Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) guidelines. In a statement state civil aviation commissioner Hage Khoda claimed that despite repeated complaint to the Pawan Hans Helicopter Services Limited management to replace, the15-year-old choppers being pressed into service in the state since 1995. Meanwhile six injured were airlifted to Guwahati for advanced treatment, and 17 dead bodies were also being flown into Guwahati so that their relatives could identify and take possession of the bodies today. All the passengers were Indians and mostly tourists, said S.N. Musoby, police chief of Tawang.
