The three member team of Ministry of Home Affairs that arrived in Srinagar for a two days visit yesterday evening, is taking stock of the various aspects of overall security situation in the wake of June 25 Pampore attack on para military forces personnel. The team is also assessing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) connected to various situations like Pampore attack.<br/><br/> During two days visit, the team will take stock of the cross LoC infiltration status besides overall security situation in Kashmir ahead of the upcoming annual Amarnath yatra beginning on 2nd July. The team is scheduled to meet top officials of Army, para-military forces and J&K Police besides Governor, Chief Minister and chief Secretary.<br/><br/>Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh directed the team to visit Kashmir in the wake of recent deadly attack on CRPF convoy at Pampore that left eight paramilitary forces personnel dead and 24 others seriously injured. Besides Secretary Border Management, the other members of the team includes Special Secretary Internal Security Mahesh Kumar Singla and Joint Secretary (Kashmir Affairs) Gyanesh Kumar. The team will later submit a detailed report to Union Home Minister.<br/><br/>Talking to AIR, Secretary Border Management Sushil Kumar said the team visited Pampore attack site and Bijbehara site where three BSF jawans had been killed earlier this month. He said the team also visited J&K EDI Complex at Pampore where three Army commandos, two CRPF personnel, one civilian and three militants were killed in a two days standoff in February this year. <br/><br/>Sushil Kumar appreciated CRPF's role for exercising restraint and not retaliating in a crowded place. He said this helped in avoiding loss of civilian lives which is commendable. Meanwhile, National Conference working President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other opposition parties during ongoing Assembly session today slammed CM Mehbooba Mufti over her silence on security situation in the state.
