<span style="color: #222222;">A high-level committee, set up by the Home Ministry to suggest ways for providing constitutional safeguards to the indigenous people of Assam, has been given one-month extension to submit its report. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Home Ministry has issued a  notification saying that the committee has been given an additional month to submit its report, from six months earlier to seven months now. <br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The thirteen member committee was set up in mid-July last year under the Chairmanship of Justice (Retired) Biplab Kumar Sharma as per Clause 6 of the  Assam Accord.<br />''<br />''According to its terms and conditions, the committee will assess the appropriate level of reservation of seats in the Assam Legislative Assembly and local bodies for the Assamese people. It will also recommend the appropriate level of reservations in  employment under the government of Assam for the Assamese people.</span><br />
