In Tamil Nadu, the Mettur Dam has been opened for irrigation in Cauvery delta districts of Thanjavur, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur.More than 4 lakh 71 thousand hectare farm land will be irrigated. Karnataka had promised to give 10,000 cusecs water to Tamil Nadu daily till 20th of this month.Cauvery River Tribunal meeting is to be held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister this Wednesday where both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are set to put forward their demands.
