Metro train will now have 6 coaches

With a view to tackle increasing rush of commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has decided to convert four-coach trains into six-coaches by next year besides adding more trains to its network. According to the Delhi Metro official, the DMRC will add more trains to its fleet over the next one year. At present, it has 129 trains in its fleet and by the end of 2011, the fleet will have 201 trains, out of which 112 will have four coaches and 89 trains will have six coaches.The additional coaches would be able to carry about 600 more passengers per train trip. The extra coaches will start arriving by the end of this year and coupled with the existing train sets for conversion.
