Boeing India President Pratyush Kumar has said that metallurgy is playing a big role in developing light weight aircraft for the ambitious UDAN scheme of the central government. <br/><br/>He was speaking while delivering first Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award lecture on "Evolution of Materials for the Aerospace Industry" in College of Engineering Pune yesterday. <br/><br/>He said, Boeing and other companies are trying to develop aeroplanes, which can minimize the expenses of flight operations for UDAN scheme. <br/><br/>Based on the higher number of engineers produced in India, Dr. Kumar exuded confidence that India can play a major role in aviation industry in the world.<br/><br/>Dr. U Kamachi Mudali, Chairman & CEO, Heavy Water Board India was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. <br/><br/>American Society of Materials (ASM) International Pune Chapter and College of Engineering Pune jointly hosted the lecture. ASM International India National Council Students and Industry Awards were also distributed in this function.
