Met Department forecasts thunderstorms and light to moderate spells of rain in Bengaluru and Karnataka

The Met Department has forecast thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate spells of rain and gusty winds tonight in Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, and Chitradurga districts of Karnataka. Issuing the warning, the Met Department has predicted wind speed to reach 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. <br />''<br />''In the heavy downpour yesterday, Bengaluru south faced water logging, tree fall, and traffic jams. Water gushed into several houses in Thyagarajanagar and near Kamakhya theatre on the ring road. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike rescue teams had to use pumps to clear the water. The traffic was diverted and the situation was brought to normalcy. The Municipality Administrator Rakesh Singh visited the areas affected by water logging last night. He said that these areas reported 73 mm rainfall and about 80 houses were flooded with the rainwater. <br />''<br />''The Chief Commissioner of the City Corporation Gaurav Gupta said that nine permanent and 63 temporary Control Rooms will be set up in the city during the rainy season. Twenty-one teams have been deputed to clear the fallen trees.<br />''<br />
