Argentina have won the eagerly awaited International friendly football match against fellow South Americans Venezuela by a solitary goal. At the Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Friday, Nicolas Otamendi scored the all important goal in the 70th minute. The FIFA recognised match is the first-ever encounter on Indian soil involving two foreign football teams. The prince of world football Lionel Messi was making his debut as national skipper for Argentina. There was a three tier security for the match in and around the venue. Commando troops were called in to escort the team buses right upto the stadium from the hotels.
