Barcelona's star forward Lionel Messi scored his first World Cup goal since 2006, as Argentina defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina, 2-1 in their opening Group-F match of the Football World Cup at Rio de Janeiro. Messi had made his World Cup debut in 2006 in which he scored just one goal, and Argentina did not go past the quarterfinals. Even though he had a fabulous season with Barcelona, Messi went goal-less in the 2010 World Cup and Argentina, just like in 2006, lost to Germany in the quarterfinals.Earlier, in a Group-E match, France beat Honduras, 3-0 at Porto Alegre. Besides an own goal from Honduras Goal keeper Noel Valladares, France scored through Karim Benzema who hit two goals, including a penalty. In the other Group-E match, Switzerland defeated Ecuador, 2-1 at Brasilia. In the three matches scheduled for later tonight, Portugal will clash with Germany at 9:30 PM Indian Time, while Ghana will take on United States at 3:30 AM, in Group-G, while in Group-F, Iran will meet Nigeria at 12:30 AM.
