Mercury rises in Delhi, snowfall hits normal life in Arunachal

Heavy snowfall has disrupted normal life in Tawang and several other districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Several feet of snow covered the entire Tawang Township, disrupting surface communication, water supply, and power and telephone connectivity. Several tourists are stranded at Tawang and Dirang in West Kameng district following heavy snowfall at Jung and Sella Pass. Snowfall was also reported from West Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Bomdila districts.Cold conditions relented slightly in the national capital with the rise in temperature. It was a sunny day in Delhi on Wednesday with the city recording a minimum of 5.8 degree Celsius. Cold conditions also relented in Rajasthan providing much-needed relief to the people. Bikaner recorded a low of 4.6 deg C, followed by 4.8 deg C in both Churu and Sriganganagar. State capital Jaipur settled at 5.6 deg C.Cold wave has further intensified in Jammu and Kashmir with most parts of the state reeling under sub-zero temperature. Kargil at minus 22 deg C was the coldest place in the state. Pahalgam was the coldest place in Kashmir valley with the mercury plunging to minimum minus 14.6 deg C. Srinagar recorded a low of -5.2 deg C.Biting chill swept Himachal Pradesh with mercury dipping in the entire states. Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state with the mercury dropping to a minimum of minus 16.8 deg C. Shimla settled at 1.1 deg C, while it was minus 0.8 deg C in Solan. Icy winds continued to lash Punjab and Haryana with the minimum temperature hovering between one and four deg C below normal in the region. Both Amritsar and Patiala in Punjab recorded a low of 2 deg C each, the coldest places in the region. Karnal in Haryana settled at minimum 4 deg C followed by Narnaul at 4.2 deg C. Hisar and Rohtak braved an identical low of 5.1 deg C, while it was 5.5 deg C in Gurgaon. Chandigarh settled at a low of 5 deg C, one notch below normal.
