In the Men's Hockey Qualifying round for the London Olympics, India thrashed Singapore 15-1 to mark a grand opening to their campaign in New Delhi yesterday. The 41st ranked Singaporeans, who came in as a replacement for the United States and comprise mostly university students with little experience in international hockey, were no match for the eight-time Olympic champions India as the home team scored goals at will at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.For India, Gurvinder Singh Chandi scored three, Shivendra Singh, SV Sunil and Danish Mujtaba scored two each, while Sardar Singh, Tushar Khandker, Sandeep Singh, SK Uthappa, Yuvraj Walmiki and Birendra Lakra found the net once.The India vs Ukrain match in Women's Hockey qualifying round for the London Olympics, ended in a draw. Both India and Ukrain scored one goal each at Major Dhyanchand Stadium in New Delhi yesterday.
