Men need to be sensitised first to empower women: Javadekar

Minister for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar has said that change and progress in gender parity arena has to be brought despite resistance from various quarters. Addressing a national level dialogue on equal space to women in media and entertainment sector, Mr Javadekar, said, changes like reservation policies for women shows the progress achieved in gender parity. He said, to empower women the menfolk needs to be sensitised first. The Minister said, the world has lost enough by not giving the right place to women in the society. He said, problem of gender equality is not only in India but a global problem. He lamented that even United States of America is yet to get its first woman president .<br/><br/>Mr Javadekar said, compassion, conviction, and consistency are three features that women add to an organisational set up which improves the efficiency of the organisation. National Commission for Women Lalitha Kumaramangalam also addressed on the occasion.
