The 3rd Test Match, being played in Melbourne, between India and Australia ended in a draw. With this the Hosts have clinched the four match Test series. They are 2-Nil ahead with one more Test remaining in the series. A 'Draw'– the fate that was not likely on India's mind when they entered the third Test match in Melbourne on Boxing Day. India way eyeing to level the series, but now it seems a distant affair. Chasing a target of 384 in 70 overs was a far fetched but a possible target with India's batting line up considered. Early Jolts shook India and put them in the defensive gear. India was reduced to 19 for 3. The innings was stabilized again by Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane. Their 85 runs stand for fourth wicket provided resistance to the Australian attack.Virat smashed 54 and Ajinkya was plucked short of a half century at 48. In the morning, Australia resumed their innings at the over night score of 261 for 7. They declared their second innings at 318 for 9. The match was called off in a draw, by two captains four overs early as no possible win loss outcome was visible. Earlier, India had made 465 runs in their first innings in reply to Australia's 530.
