Melbourne test evenly poised

The first Cricket Test between India and Australia in Melbourne is evenly poised. At the end of the third day's play on Wednesday, the hosts were ahead by 230 runs with just two second innings wickets in hand. They were 179 for 8 with Michael Hussey on 78 and James Pattinson on Three at the crease. Earlier, resuming their first innings at the overnight 214 for 3, India added only 68 runs before losing the final seven wickets. Australia had made 333 runs in their first innings. The scores so far: Australia – 333 and 179 for 8.India – 282.
