Meira Kumar calls for second green revolution

The Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar has called for a second green revolution to double the production of grains to fulfill the need of the continuously growing population. While addressing the centenary celebration and Convocation of Sam Higinbottom Institute of Agriculture ,Technology and sciences in Allahabad today, Mrs. Meira Kumar said that ‘this is a well known fact that agriculture is the lifeline of rural India but it has not been given due attention .’ Highlighting the important role of Agriculture sciences to increase the Agricultural production, she said that the interest of farmer’s especially landless farmers has to be taken care of. Earlier she also released a document on the Research highlights of the Institute and another innovative ‘Green School Mission project bulletin’ initiated by Allahabad Administration and the Institute jointly, on this occasion. The Institute also conferred an honary doctorate to the Lok Sabha Speaker and two other dignitaries. Mrs. Kumar gave away Gold and Silver medals to the topper students of different courses and conferred the PhD degree to 28 students on this occasion.
