The Lok Sabha Speaker Mrs. Meira Kumar has called for preventing violence against women and girls. Inaugurating the three day seminar for Asian Parliamentarians, she called for bringing in legislations to prevent violence and strictly enforce the laws. She strongly advocated providing level playing field to women in every walk of life.

Around 150 participants including Parliamentarians and observers from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand are attending the seminar.
