Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir today met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. <br/><br/>Her meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of appointment of former IB Director Dineshwar Sharma as government interlocutor on Kashmir issue. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters after the meeting the Chief Minister said, the situation in the state has improved a lot as violence has come down significantly. <br/><br/>Ms Mehbooba said, she held talks with the Home Minister on the announcement of a special representative for Jammu and Kashmir, security situation in the state and various development issues. <br/><br/>The Chief Minister said, a detailed discussion was also held on the 80,000 crore rupees package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015.<br/><br/>Senior officials of the Home Ministry and the Jammu and Kashmir government also attended the meeting, which lasted for about 45 minutes. <br/><br/>Mr Singh and Ms Mehbooba later had a one-on-one meeting for about 15 minutes. The meeting was also attended by the MoS (Home) Hansraj Gangaram Ahir. <br/><br/>A Home Ministry release issued after the meeting said, it has been decided to fast-track the projects under Prime Minister's Development Package (PMDP) by making encumbrance free land available for the infrastructure projects. <br/><br/>Out of 80,068 crore rupees under PMDP for 63 major Development projects pertaining to 15 Central Government Ministries in the state, 62,599 crore rupees have been sanctioned and an amount of 22,042 crore rupees has already been released. <br/><br/>While selecting projects under the Border Area Development Program, special emphasis will be given for development of border areas up to 10 kilometres. <br/><br/>It was also decided that to ensure the safety of the people in Border areas, construction of Bunkers along the border will be expedited. It was also decided to accelerate the development projects relating to additional jobs to Kashmiri Migrants, transit accommodations, transfer of cash relief/honorarium through Direct Benefit Transfer mode and providing employment to youth of the state. <br/><br/>Earlier this week, the Centre had announced the appointment of former Intelligence Bureau director Dineshwar Sharma's as the government's representative for carrying forward a sustained dialogue with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir, in a fresh move aimed at bringing peace to the troubled state.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today called on the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the current political situation in the state. <br/>This was her first meeting with the Union Home Minister after the Government decided to have a sustained dialogue process in the state. <br/><br/>Earlier, Ms Mufti had welcomed the appointment of former Intelligence Bureau Chief Dineshwar Sharma as the Government's representative for the sustained dialogue process in the state. UNI reports, holding of panchayat election in the state was also on the agenda in today's meeting. The last local elections were held in 2011 in the state.
