One of the suspects, Mehar Alam, who was detained by the National Investigation Agency, NIA in connection with the Patna serial blasts has escaped from the custody at Muzaffarpur district of Bihar on Wednesday night. After picked up Alam was being kept at a lodge in the Moti jheel area of Muzaffarpur.

Muzaffarpur SSP Saurabh Kumar told AIR that NIA has lodged an FIR at the town police station of Muzaffarpur in this connection. A suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist Mehar Alam was picked up from Singhauli village under Hayaghat block in Darbhanga district a couple of days ago for questioning. 6 people were killed and 83 others were injured in Patna serial blasts on 27th of this month.
