Meghalaya to open colleges, educational institutes, tourist destinations from September 1

Meghalaya Government has decided to open colleges, educational institutes and tourist destinations from September 1. The decision was taken today following a cabinet meeting held at Shillong.<br />'' <br />'' After the meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed media that the decision was taken after recommendations were given by the State Education Department and the Tourism Department.<br />'' <br />'' He stated that in urban areas, for class 1 to 5 online classes will continue and for class 6 to 8 school visits will be allowed and for class 9 to 12 regular classes will commence. However, in rural areas classes starting from 6 to 12 regular class will resume but for class 1 to 5 only school visits will be allowed.<br />'' <br />'' The Chief Minister further informed that all tourist destinations in the State will be opened up for tourists from other States. Only those who are vaccinated with double dose and others with a negative RTPCR report taken 72 hours prior to the visit will be allowed, he added.<br />'' <br />'' He further said that all details of the stay and other itineraries of the visit should be disclosed to the authorities.<br />''  <br />
