Meghalaya to host 8th National Youth Convention from October 10th -17th

<br/>For the first time Meghalaya is going to host the 8th National Youth Convention coinciding with the silver Jubilee Year of the ‘International Year of the youth’ in Shillong from 10-17 October this year. <br/> <br/>The archbishop of the Archdiocese of Shillong Rev. Dominic Jala said in Shillong that the theme this year is ‘Live the world, liberate the world’. He said the main thrust of this convention would be on three main areas – eradicate poverty, rejuvenate environment and building a culture of peace. <br/> <br/>AIR correspondent for the first time the Shillong Catholic church organisation is organising this mega event in a north eastern state.<br/> <br/>The archbishop of the Archdiocese of Shillong, Rev. Dominic Jala said it will help the people of this region to share their unique culture, hospitality and faith with those coming from other parts of the country. <br/> <br/>He informed it will also help opening up new vistas and dimensions of inter-twining of regions whereby many of young people who migrates from the North East might get assistance in their search for education and employment. Highlighting the subject of this year the father of the Archdiocese of Shillong Dominc Jala said<br/> <br/>The National Youth Convention, is being held once in every three years, facilitates holistic interaction among the youth from the different archdioceses/dioceses of India. <br/> <br/>The Seventh National Youth Convention held at Cuttack, Orissa in October 2007 and the first National Youth Convention was held in 1989.More than one lakh youths from across the country is expected to participate in the mega event.<br/>
