Meghalaya reported eight COVID 19 related deaths in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of fatalities to 758. A statement from the Directorate of Health Services informed that 495 fresh new cases were registered tallying the active cases to 4464 while 453 recoveries were also reported. The State has so far seen 38,032 recovered cases and 43,252 confirmed COVID 19 cases till date. East Khasi Hills district has the highest number of COVID 19 related fatalities with 587 cases followed by West Jaintia Hills district with 61 deaths.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, as preparation for the partial reopening of the Iewduh market (largest traditional market), a vaccination drive was conducted for shopkeepers and vendors. The drive is also augmented by an awareness session by doctors and health professionals at the venue. The drive is being organized in coordination with the Office of Syiem of Hima Mylliem and saw around 300 people get vaccinated on the first day. With the opening up of spot registrations, the vaccination drive has received an overwhelming response in Meghalaya. The State has seen more than 50,000 people receive the shot over the past five days. A total of 5,30,267 doses have been administered in the State so far.</span><br />
