Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek inaugurated the COVID 19 Step Down Hospital at Umsawli, New Shillong Township today.<br />'' <br />'' The Health Minister informed that the first 50 beds of the hospital will cater to 25 male patients and 25 female patients. He further stated that the hospital will start admitting patients immediately. According to the Health Minister, the remaining 50 beds will be made operational within a week.<br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, retired Director of Health Services (DHS) and in-charge of corona care centre; Dr Hunsi Bareh said that patients who are recovering from Shillong Civil Hospital will be shifted to the newly inaugurated hospital for further management. The hospital will also admit Category C patients and have also kept two ventilators as reserved if there is any deterioration in the health of any of the patients. She also informed that they will be able to make the remaining 50 beds operational once the central oxygen line is installed.<br />''  <br />
