<span style="color: #222222;">In view of sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, Meghalaya Government has decided to impose a complete lockdown in East Khasi Hills district from 8 pm tonight till the 10th of this month and weekend lockdown in other districts. After a meeting today, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that the decision was taken to curb the spread of COVID cases as East Khasi Hills district has reached a positivity rate of 12 per cent as compared to other districts. Areas under Shillong agglomeration have reached 17 per cent of positivity rate and 60 per cent of hospital beds have been occupied by COVID patients. The Chief Minister stated that the situation is serious and the decision to impose complete lockdown for five days was taken to break the chain of transmission.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the lockdown, all vehicular movements will be restricted and inter-district movements from East Khasi Hills to other places will also be restricted. He said that all markets will be closed but essential goods will be made available through local shops and other delivery services. He further said examinations scheduled for 6th and 7th May will be held on the 11th and 12th.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Chief Minister also urged the citizens of Meghalaya to work together with the State Government to fight pandemic and requested every individual to be responsible.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, the State logged six new COVID-19 related deaths today bringing the total fatality to 191 in Meghalaya while 269 new cases were recorded bringing the active cases to 2135 and 147 recoveries were also registered.<b>&nbsp;</b></span><br />'' &nbsp;<br />
