<span style="color: #222222;">In view of sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, Meghalaya Government has decided to impose a complete lockdown in East Khasi Hills district from 8 pm tonight till the 10th of this month and weekend lockdown in other districts. After a meeting today, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that the decision was taken to curb the spread of COVID cases as East Khasi Hills district has reached a positivity rate of 12 per cent as compared to other districts. Areas under Shillong agglomeration have reached 17 per cent of positivity rate and 60 per cent of hospital beds have been occupied by COVID patients. The Chief Minister stated that the situation is serious and the decision to impose complete lockdown for five days was taken to break the chain of transmission. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the lockdown, all vehicular movements will be restricted and inter-district movements from East Khasi Hills to other places will also be restricted. He said that all markets will be closed but essential goods will be made available through local shops and other delivery services.
