Meghalaya Government has decided to extend the lockdown for another week till 14th June as new COVID-19 cases continue to rise in rural areas.<br />''  <br />'' Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma after a review meeting today informed the media that the entire State will be under lockdown with relaxations in certain sectors which will be decided by the Deputy Commissioners.<br />''  <br />'' He said, even though the positivity ratio has come down from 16.64 per cent to 12 per cent, it is still in double digits and we are nowhere close to letting our guards down. It may be mentioned that the Government recently decided to extend the lockdown till 7th June. The Chief Minister urged the people to cooperate with the State Government.<br />''  <br />'' The CM also informed that the State Government has entrusted the Deputy Commissioner to allow certain economic activities on a need basis. As for rural areas, he said that there can be economic activities in rural areas which will again be as per the decision of the respective Deputy Commissioners.<br />''  <br />'' Citing that vaccination has helped curb the fatalities in the State, the Chief Minister urged the people to come forward for vaccination. He further said that the State Government is expecting 66,000 more doses of COVID vaccine in the next five to six days and it will be rolled out for citizens between the age group of 18 to 44. While for the 45 plus category, there are over 71,000 doses of vaccine and the vaccination process for both the groups is still going on.  <br />''  <br />
