Meghalaya govt decides to extend lockdown till April 30

<span style="color: #222222;">Meghalaya Government has decided to extend the lockdown till April 30 following a Cabinet meeting held today at Shillong.<br />'' <br />'' Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that after reviewing the prevailing situation across the region, the decision to extend the lockdown was taken.<br />'' <br />'' The Cabinet also decided to pay 700 rupees per week to over 1,20,000 beneficiaries who work in unorganised sectors during the lockdown which began from March 23 till April 14.<br />'' <br />'' Informing that there are over 3000 students and workers from the State stranded in other parts of the country, the Deputy Chief Minister said that each of them will be given a one-time financial benefit of 3000 rupees.<br />'' <br />'' He said that inter-district movements will not be allowed until further order, but said that migrant workers who are currently stationed in shelter homes set up by the Government will be allowed to move back to their respective districts which are within the State. All inter-state movement from all entry and exit points will continue to be sealed throughout Meghalaya, he added.<br />'' <br />''Stating that the Cabinet also reviewed its earlier decision of allowing private transportation, he said that after thorough discussions and getting inputs from all the Deputy Commissioners, the Cabinet reviewed the decisions and decided that private transport will not be allowed in urban areas. However, he said that the Deputy Commissioners of other districts have been directed to come up with modalities whether it can be allowed in rural areas.</span><br />
