Meghalaya: Festival held to educate street vendors about PM SVANidhi scheme in Shillong

<span style="color: #222222;">In Meghalaya, a festival was held at Polo Ground, Shillong today to highlight some of the success stories and educate street vendors about the PM SVANidhi scheme.<br />''<br />''Meghalaya is among 33 States in the country that are organizing a function to commemorate and honour the street vendors who have shown good credit worthiness and discipline and shifted to digital transactions. The event also aims to celebrate 75 years of India's independence.<br />''<br />''Principal Secretary, Dr P Shakeel Ahmed informed that the target given by the Centre to the State was 3000 beneficiaries for this fiscal and the state government has so far reached out to 889 beneficiaries. While urging various departments including banking institutions to work in a mission mode, he suggested that there is a need to reach out to the street vendors and spread awareness about this initiative instead of asking them to visit the banks.<br />''<br />''On the occasion, the Principal Secretary felicitated street vendors who have successfully shifted to digital payment platforms.</span><br />
