<span style="color: #222222;">In a major political development in Meghalaya, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has decided to join the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government led by the National People's Party (NPP).<br />'' <br />'' The five MLAs including CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh, Mayralborn Syiem, Mohendro Rapsang, Kimfa Marbaniang and PT Sawkmie have all signed a letter confirming their support to the MDA Government which was submitted to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.<br />'' <br />'' Following their meeting with the Chief Minister, CLP leader Ampareen Lyngdoh informed media persons today that this decision was taken to ensure that they have each other's back. Asked if the AICC was aware of the decision, she stated that it is not upon the AICC to decide since the five MLAs have the support of the public.<br />'' <br />''It may be mentioned that the Congress was reduced to five members after 12 MLAs merged with the All India Trinamool Congress in November last year.</span>
