Meghalaya Chief Minister D.D. Lapang has expressed his willingness to step down from his post. On Sunday Mr. Lapang met Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to apprise her of the latest political situation in the State. <br/> <br/>Mr. Lapang has admitted having lost majority in the Congress Legislature Party. This development took place after 20 of the 28 Congress Legislatures pledged their support to Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma. Quoting Congress sources, AIR correspondent reports Mr Sangma is front runner for the top post in the State.<br/>
