In Meghalaya, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has announced ex-gratia of three lakh rupees to the next of kin of victims who died in ethnic violence at Resubelpara sub-division of East Garo Hills District. Besides, the displaced families will get 10,000 rupees and three bundles of CGI sheets each to rebuild their houses. Government would also bear the medical expenses of the people injured during the ethnic violence. Announcing this Dr. Sangma said the situation is under control. The Chief Minister said social activists and members of civil society have been engaged in the relief operations. Dr. Sangma further stated that more senior officers have been engaged in the affected areas and many more displaced people were coming from Assam to relief camps set up in Meghalaya.
