Meghalaya celebrates Republic day; CM extend wishes to people and share future plans of Govt

Meghalaya joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 73rd Republic Day. The State level function was held at Polo Grounds, Shillong where the tri-colour was unfurled by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. During his speech, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt gratitude to the freedom fighters of the nation and the State and remembered their contributions. He further shared the vision and future plans of the Government.<br />'' <br />'' He highlighted that the overall law and order in the State was peaceful in the previous year and the Government was also successful in arriving at a resolution in six out of the 12 border areas of difference with the State of Assam. He mentioned that the Government has implemented schemes like PMGSY, Jal Jeevan Mission, and the MGNREGS at an accelerated pace and has brought changes in the lives of the people.<br />'' <br />'' The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated all across the State with patriotic fervour.  The day was also celebrated in different district headquarters, sub-divisional headquarters, and other institutes.  During the address at the State level function in Shillong, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma highlighted that the Government is prioritizing the welfare of the farmers, women, and the youth. The Chief Minister further mentioned that the Government is committed to achieving the vision of being amongst the top 10 States of the country in the next 10 years. The Chief Minister also talked about various developmental projects the State Government has taken up for the welfare of the society. As part of the celebration winners of the Police Medal for meritorious service, Fire Service for meritorious service, and the Governor's medal were also announced. Recognition were also given to Healthcare workers by the Government on the day for their contributions towards the fight against COVID 19. Various cultural programs followed the 73rd Republic Day celebration. There were presentations of tableaus from various government departments projecting and highlighting their schemes and achievements. <br />''
