Meghalaya Cabinet approves recommendations of three regional committees pertaining to long-pending border dispute between neighbouring State

Meghalaya cabinet on Wednesday has approved the recommendations of three regional committees, namely West Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, East and West Jaintia Hills along with the recommendation of the Assam Government which will be submitted to the Union Home Minister on Thursday evening with regard to the long-pending border dispute between the neighbouring States.<br />''<br />''Following a cabinet meeting at Shillong this afternoon, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, the Government felt strongly that apart from historical facts, it is important to keep the sentiments of the people in mind. He added, the regional committees had meticulously gone and visited 36 villages in six areas where the dispute is about 36.79 sq km.<br />''  <br />''Both the Chief Minister of Assam and Meghalaya will proceed to New Delhi on Thursday, meet the Union Home Minister and submit a common report as both the States have agreed 100 per cent to the recommendations of the regional committees.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">        <br />''</span>It may be recalled that The regional committees have been formed to examine the present status of the six areas of differences Tarabari, Gizang and Hahim in West Khasi Hills district, Boklapara and Khanapara-Pilingkata in Ri Bhoi district, and Ratacherra in East Jaintia Hills district.
