In Meghalaya, a former Sub Inspector of the state Police, who was abducted by militants a few days back, was released last night. Akhil Hajong, who had resigned to contest the Assembly polls in 2003 on a BJP ticket, was kidnapped by militants from his residence in Dalu in West Garo Hills district on the 26th of last month. The police said, he was released at Ruga Bazaar in neighbouring South Garo Hills district. Some six armed militants had kidnapped Hajong, from his residence.
