In an important step towards institutionalizing federal democracy in Nepal, the meetings of provincial assemblies have begun. <br/><br/>The first ever meeting of State Assembly in province 2, 5, 6 and 7 was held in the respective provincial capitals on Sunday. <br/><br/>The newly elected members enthusiastically participated in the historic meetings which were chaired by the senior-most lawmakers. <br/><br/>The first meeting of province 3 was held on Thursday while in remaining province 1 and 4 the meeting is scheduled on Monday. <br/><br/>First time in the history of Nepal elections for Provincial Assembly were held in two phases on November 26 and December 7 last year. <br/><br/>Total 550 members were elected for 7 provincial assemblies. <br/><br/>Left Alliance of CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) registered massive victory in all states except Province 2. <br/><br/>Sanghiya Samjawadi Forum Nepal and Rashtriya Janata Party Nepal alliance got majority in Province 2. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, preparations for government formation are on and first ever provincial governments in the Himalayan nation are likely to be formed soon.
