A meeting of the Committee of Governors will be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi today to discuss rain-fed area farming and application of knowledge in these areas. It will be chaired by the President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil.

Programmes for dry land farming, animal husbandry and fisheries for sustainable agriculture in these areas will also come up for review in the day long deliberations. Farmer industry partnership, role of Panchayats in the development of agriculture infrastructure will also figure prominently in the discussions.

A Rashtrapati Bhawan press release said the meeting is the follow up of the governors conference held in October this year. Governors of Punjab Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Jammu andKashmir,Meghalaya,Karnataka,Bihar,Uttrakhand,Nagaland,Assam,Chhattisgarh,TamilNadu and Mizoram will participate in the conference .
