A meeting of the Committee of Governors on Farmer-Industry Partnership is in progress at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi to discuss rain fed area farming and application of knowledge in these areas.
The committee is being headed by the Punjab and Rajasthan Governor Mr. Shivraj Patil. The President Mrs. Pratibha Devi singh Patil is chairing the meeting. A Rashtrapati Bhawan Spokesperson said, programmes for dry land farming, animal husbandry and fisheries for sustainable agriculture in these areas will also come up for review in the day long deliberations.
Farmer industry partnership, role of Panchayats in the development of agriculture infrastructure will also figure prominently in the discussions.
AIR correspondent reports, the meeting is the follow up of the governors conference held in October this year. Governors of Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and Mizoram are participating in the conference.
