Meeting of Sub-Group of CMs on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan underway at NITI Aayog

The meeting of the Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan is underway at NITI Aayog in New Delhi. It was constituted in March last year to examine financial requirements for comprehensive implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission. Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu is chairing the Sub-Group. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, that Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Mizoram, Haryana and Environment Minister of Delhi government are attending the meeting. The sub group will suggest measures for meeting budgetary needs and recommend robust institutional mechanisms for effective implementation among others. <br/>The Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd October last year, aims to rid the country of open defecation by 2019. <br/><br/>
