The sixth edition of Meeting of Parties on Bio safety issues, being held as prelude to the International Conference on Biodiversity in Hyderabad, concluded on Friday evening. The UN Conference adopted 18 decisions relating to Cartagena Bio safety protocol and the Kualalumpur supplementary protocol at its plenary session late on Friday evening. Briefing media about the five-day deliberations, Executive Secretary to the Convention on Biodiversity, Braulio Ferreira de Souza Dias said many member-countries expressed concerns over bio safety related issues mainly relating to agriculture, health and biotechnology. He said, the countries are keen to understand the difficulties and take an informed decision before ratifying international protocols.
The second part of the International Conference on Biodiversity will begin from Monday.
