The third meeting of Joint Working Group (JWG) between Indian and Sri Lanka to resolve the fishermen issue will be held in Colombo today. The Indian side will be led by Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Devedra Chaudhary. <br/><br/>The Sri Lankan side will be headed by Secretary to the Fisheries Ministry, Mangalika Adhikari. Representatives of fishermen associations on both sides will also participate in the day-long deliberations.<br/><br/>The meeting comes in wake of tensions after killing of an Indian fisherman in alleged firing by Sri Lankan navy last month. <br/><br/>The ministerial-level meeting held in January had reached an understanding to ensure that there is no physical harm or loss of life while apprehending fishermen by Navy and Coast Guard of the two countries. <br/><br/>Sri Lankan side had also assured to consider the request of releasing fishing boats in their custody. The issue will further come up for discussions in today's meeting.
