A meeting of the committee on Telengana headed by Justice Srikrishna is in progress in the capital. The five-member panel earlier visited Hyderabad to hold discussion with various stakeholders. The committee ascertained their views on the contentious issues. The committee was set up in the wake of the demand for a separate state of Telangana and it is to submit its report by the 31st of December. According to seven point terms of reference, the Telangana committee is to examine the situation in Andhra Pradesh and to review developments in the state since its formation and their impact on the progress and development of the different regions of the State among other things.<br/> The setting up of the five-member Committee was announced on the 3rd of February as part of the Centre's move to have wide-ranging consultations with all sections of the people and all political parties and groups in Andhra Pradesh on the Telangana issue.
