A historical moment was created when the Meetei community boycotted the Ningol Chakouba festival in support of the families affected in the recent communal clashes in Manipur on Wednesday.<br />'' <br />''Different civil society organisations had appealed to the people of Manipur to boycott the Diwali and Ningol Chakouba festival this year as many families are taking shelter in relief camps after their houses were burnt down in the clashes. The Ningol Chakouba festival is one of the biggest festivals for the Meetei community and married women are invited to visit their paternal home for a feast.
