A meet on amending the Delhi Police Act in the capital was held today. It enumerated significant issues which would enhance the functioning of the police and enable them to tackle challenges effectively. A number of suggestions were thrown open for consideration including the need for an urban transport management authority to ease traffic problems in the city, creation of an independent oversight mechanism to handle complaints against police among others. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Union Home Secretary G K Pillai, Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal and other members of the state government participated in the deliberation which covered a wide spectrum of issues.<br/>
