Medvedev slams his country's poor aviation safety record

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has slammed his country's poor aviation safety record and demanded a thorough probe into Wednesday's plane crash that killed at least 43 people including virtually all of one of the country's top ice hockey teams.Medvedev is set to inspect the crash site in Yaroslavl, about 300 kilometres from Moscow. The passenger plane has crashed shortly after taking off from the airport in Yaroslavl, north east of the capital. The crash killed most of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice hockey team as it headed out to begin its season in Minsk in Belarus.
