In Andhra Pradesh, emergency medical services continue to remain paralysed at the Government hospitals while the state authority once again called upon junior doctors to call off their stir. State Medical Education Minister Murali Mohan has once again called upon the junior doctors to call off their strike keeping in view the inconvenience being caused to patients. However, junior doctors refused to call off their agitation till the state Government gives assurance on their 11-point demands. Meanwhile, state Government has made alternate arrangements to meet the emergency medical services. AIR correspondent reports, keeping in view the inconvenience being caused to huge number of patients due to junior doctors’ agitation at the Government teaching hospitals, the state Government has made arrangements to meet the emergency medical needs. Over 600 non-specialist staff and medical officials have been pressed into service today to provide emergency services at different teaching hospitals across the state. Following the Government directions to ensure emergency medical services, the concerned district collectors have visited the hospitals today and reviewed the situation. The emergency services at the casualty departments and Intensive Care Units of different departments are partially met. However, several patients had to face hardships due to inadequate critical care services at the referral hospitals.
