Sports Minister Vijay Goel today said, medical check ups have been made compulsory for all players. Briefing media in New Delhi on the achievements of his Ministry during the last three years, Mr Goel said every athlete will be medically checked before every major international event.He said, it is the responsibility of the sports federations to ensure performance of players by functioning professionally. The Minister informed that government is taking steps to bring out more sportspersons from schools and universities. He said, his Ministry is focusing upon sports in tribal areas, as many good sportspersons come from these regions.On coach development, Mr Goel said, federations have been asked to enhance capacity of existing coaches. He said, if needed, top athletes will be allowed to have a personal coach in addition to existing coach. He also said, foreign coaches are being brought-in to train Indian sportspersons, wherever required.
